Beginners Risk Strategy

Risk is a classic board game made by Hasbro. Playing this game over the years I have developed some strategies that makes sure you are the last man standing.

The Australian Turtle:

A strategy employed numerous times against me by my friend Derrick, this method is all about holding Australia at the beginning of the game and never letting go. You amass your armies in Australia while trying to hold light defenses across some far off easy target. You only put enough troops to take one territory each turn in the easy lands all the while amassing the majority of your army on Australia. Even if you are unable to grab a territory on a particular turn keep putting the bulk of your armies on Australia. After about 10 turns, open the gates and flood into Asia like a god damn super volcano wiping out every one in your way.

(Disclaimer: Everyone will turn against you using this strategy. Be prepare to have everyone on the board put their differences aside to attack you.)

Take South America at All Cost:

A method I end up using a lot starts in South America. Expect for Australia, South America is the most defensible continent. I like it more then Australia because you can react and adapt to the changing board landscape easier and faster. With this strategy you always want to keep a watchful eye on America, for that is your biggest weakness and greatest triumph. If you take America you become incredibly difficult to defeat. However, America will probably be a tough nut to crack. Focusing on Africa, but be weary of over extension. Africa is in the middle of the board and the middle of the board is very difficult to horde. So use it as a territory card grab more than a second continent land grab. Always be watching America for your chance.
